Ways to Give

Our founders reached out to the community to assist them in their desire to heed God’s calling on their lives to care for the elderly 119 years ago and that need has not changed. We continue to rely on the generosity of our friends to help preserve the heritage of the Home and our dedication to providing a higher level of care to a century old tradition of compassion and excellence. This is what we strive to extend to all our residents. We are deeply appreciative of your support.

Amazon Smile

If you shop at Amazon you can be supporting our Mission by choosing us as the Charity to contribute to.

Go to smile.amazon.com.  On your first visit to AmazonSmile, you need to select a Norwegian Christian Home  to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. They will remember your selection, and then every eligible purchase you make at smile.amazon.com will result in a donation.

What makes this gift so special is the option to have an individual plaque mounted on the wall under your TV, with an inscription of your choice, as a memorial or in honor of a loved one. If a Scripture verse, an inspirational thought or just your name is more appealing, that too can be accommodated.

Work Place Giving

Please consider speaking to your employer to find out if you can specify Norwegian Christian Home Foundation as a recipient of your support through Workplace Giving campaigns. Many employers match part or all of the employee’s donation. These programs offer the convenience of automatic payroll deductions and also reap the tax benefit of charitable giving. All donations are greatly appreciated no matter how much because each make a difference.

TV Campaign – Great News!!

Thanks to you and your generous gifts we have met our goal of providing new TVs for the 3rd and 4th floors of the Skilled Nursing Facility. These new wall-mounted HDTVs are customized for individual residents by providing pillow speaker controls at each bedside. Our residents are thrilled to be able to enjoy their favorite shows whenever they want without disturbing one’s roommate!

We are now ready to take the next step in providing the second-floor residents with the same conveniences and upgrades. With your help we can now begin a mid-year campaign to accomplish this goal. We need to purchase 46 TVs to make this happen by the end of this year.

Your donation to this campaign is unique because an individual plaque will be mounted on the wall below the TV, with an inscription of your choice, it can be a scripture verse, an inspirational thought, or simply your name. The cost of these HDTVs is $600 a unit.

Would you consider purchasing one or more of these TVs and help a resident enjoy the benefits of enjoying TV from the comfort of their own bed?

If you cannot purchase a TV, perhaps you would consider making a donation to the general TV campaign fund so that we can collectively raise monies to purchase these needed items. A general donation plaque with your name only will be created for these group tv purchases.

Remember every time we are able to share good news we want you to remember that you’re an integral part of this good created!

Our Garden

One of the favorite places for residents and their families is in the Gazebo in our garden. This tranquil environment allows residents and their guests to enjoy private conversations and create memories of visits with loved ones for years to come. The peaceful sounds of running water and cool breezes lifts the spirits of all who take the time to sit and visit. You can also enjoy seeing the fish and turtles in the Koi Pond! And the many flowers in bloom during the year. Our beloved Gazebo needs repair! Your gift will help cover the expense of maintaining this special retreat from the cares of the day. The work includes repairs to the roof, the installation of a fan under the roof to make it more comfortable in warmer weather, and a fresh coat of paint and polyurethane. We also need to repair the benches that line the perimeter. Please consider making a donation to benefit the Home

Estate Planning

Consider naming the Norwegian Christian Home Foundation in your will. Charitable gifts after death have the power to reduce estate taxes. When a bequest is left to a charity, it may be called a legacy gift. Now you can donate to charity through your IRA. This allows individuals 70 ½ or older to give directly from their IRAs rather than having to take a distribution that would trigger an income tax bill.

Norwegian Christian Home offers many opportunities to use planned gifts to enable donors to provide financial support for a wide range of needs. Consider these various options that address personal needs and allow for supporting the Home:

  • Bequest under a will
  • Real Estate
  • Life Insurance Policy
  •  Retirement Plan Proceeds
  • Trust Options
  • DAF’s (Donor Advised Funds) *

* A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account
designed exclusively to invest, grow and give assets to charities
for meaningful and lasting impact. According to the IRS, a donor advised fund is a special fund or account controlled by a section 501 (c) 3 organization called a sponsoring organization. Many
people set up DAFs through community foundations or investment firms that manage charitable funds. Schwab, Fidelity and Vanguard are among the big financial service companies that manage huge sums of money in DAFs.
